I’m Rae, a film and digital wedding photographer based between Ontario and British Columbia. I LOVE a good love story, and have found quite a lot of purpose painting the hushed giggles, bashful smiles and proud celebrations around me in light. I’m so honoured to have been living this full-time dream job for more than 7 years now. It’s important to me that your images capture the essence of who you are. For that reason, my sessions are relaxed, intentional and I commit to building a space of trust where you can feel seen. I’ll gently guide you as needed (cause really, what do you do with your hands), but my focus is always to document the candid energy that fills the room when we’re surrounded by those we love.
“I’m inspired by a number of mediums. From sketching out concepts before shoots, flipping through modern design magazines, to developing black and white film by hand in my hall closet darkroom.”
A collector of hobbies, I’m passionate about community, rock climbing, books, wine, art, dive bars, music, pottery and nature. It’s not uncommon to catch me editing wedding photos along to your reception playlist, or enjoying a slow morning at my local coffee shop. I love spending my time outdoors, whether that means rock climbing, having a riverside picnic or wandering through moss covered trails. While I think Canada is the freakin’ coolest with an unfathomable amount of unique landscapes to explore, international travel is also one of my favourite talking points. I’d love to swap stories if you’ve been somewhere cool, ate something wacky or found an airbnb that made you swoon. While it feels like a crime to not love the following, I’m also a big fan of dogs, baked goods and vintage shopping.
Photography is a really unique art to share. How incredible is it that I get to show people how beautiful, funny and effortlessly cool they are through my lens?! I’ve made so many genuine connections through this job and it’s always the best when clients become friends. It’s my hope that I’m not just your wedding photographer, but a continued support in your story.
A LOOK AT THE EXPERIENCE
wildly
sentimental.
I lost my mom in my early 20s, completely unexpectedly and quit my job to dive head first into photographing weddings shortly after.
There’s something really fleeting, not only with how we choose to live our days, but also with how we hold onto memories for those we love and cherish.
I spent a lot of time trying to piece together moments of my mom’s life through old journals and photos, wishing we had documented more memories while she was still with us. I think this experience has driven a lot of the purpose and passion I have for framing these tangible memories for those around me – knowing that one day they might not have these same circumstances but that they’ll be able to teleport back to that spot and relive it through these tangible time capsules. It’s so much more than just snapping a quick photo or even sharing a fun experience, it’s a way for us to feel closer as humans.
